BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ines Garcia was the sole Trojan competing in the UAB Green and Gold - Multi and Invite at the UAB Track and Field Complex on Thursday, participating in the heptathlon for Troy.

The sophomore competed in four events throughout the day, receiving one podium finish in the 100-meter hurdles to rank seventh in the standings with 2,708 points.

Garcia's first event kicked off at 12:30 p.m. in the 100-meter hurdles. The sole Trojan came out of the gates on fire, placing second in the event with a time of 14.67 - second-best this season.

In the high jump event, Garcia put together a solid performance. In her final jump, Garcia leaped a 14.21-meter, finishing tied for eighth.

The Canary Island native's low point was the shot-put event, throwing 9.51-meters in her third throw to rank 11th.

To close out the day, Garcia competed in the 200-meter dash. Again, Garcia returned to form, coming across the finish line at 25.95 for a fourth-place finish.

A calvary of Trojans will join Garcia tomorrow for day two of the meet, starting at 10 a.m. with the remainder of the decathlon events.
