Track and Field Heads North for UAB Green and Gold - Invite and Multi

TROY, Ala. - Troy Track and Field resumes its outdoor season with a ride north to UAB Track and Field Complex to battle 24 rosters at the UAB Green and Gold - Invite and Multi from April 7-9.Â

The invitational begins on Thursday at 1 p.m. with its Decathlon events, starting with the 100-meter and finishing with the 400-meter. Friday quicks off with the 110-meter hurdles at 11 a.m. with the 3000-meter steeplechase concluding the day at 6 p.m. The meet wraps up on Saturday with discus opening the day for the Trojans at 9 a.m. - 4x400-relay ends the three-day weekend at 4:30 p.m.

The Trojans are fresh off 12 podium finishes at the Weems Baskin Invitational at the University of South Carolina - four first-place finishes.

Edita Sklenska was the sole victor in the meet for the women, competing in the 800-meter invite. The junior captured the victory by just under two seconds over the competition, crossing the finish line at 2:10.61.

On the men's side, Javon Osbourne, Morgan Reese and Cole Stewart finished on top of their events. Osbourne threw a whopping 54.79-meter to capture the gold in his event.Â

In the hammer throw, Reese reached the 56.65-meter marker to win the event.Â

Finally, Stewart conquered the javelin event alongside Marek Taskar (3rd - 63.37-meters) with a final distance of 66.01-meters.Â

Weren't We Inside Last Time?
April 7 marks the second time in the 2021-22 season that the teams venture to UAB, having competed in the Vulcan invite earlier this year.

Sklenska headlined the meet, breaking the women's 600-meter with a time of 1:31.47 to claim the bronze in the event. Additionally, Sklenska took home the gold in the 400-meter, finishing at 56.52.

Julian Martin-Rodgers kept the momentum going for the men in the 60-meter hurdles. Martin-Rodgers took it to the competition, topping off at 8.14.

Overall, the Trojans had 18 top-five finishes with five at the podium.
