Troy Softball Treks to Texas State for Key Conference Battle

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Softball program will trek to San Marcos, Texas for a key conference battle with Texas State starting Friday at Bobcat Stadium.

First pitches for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are set for 6 p.m., 2 p.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
Â
The Trojans (27-15, 13-8 Sun Belt) and Texas Sate (29-17, 13-8 Sun Belt) enter the weekend sitting at third and fourth in league standings and holding the same conference record.

Leanna Johnson heads into the weekend fresh off a no-hitter in the Sunday series finale against UT Arlington. The junior leads the Sun Belt Conference in ERA (1.90), strikeouts (226) and starts (29). She ranks second in innings pitched (169.1), opposing batting average (.172) and wins (18).

Offensively, Kelly Horne paces the way for the Trojans, batting at a .385 mark with six doubles, a triple and 10 home runs. The Tallahassee, Fla., native set Troy's career walks record last weekend (102) and is just three walks shy of setting the program's single-season record (42).

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS:
Texas State enters the weekend after sweeping the series against Georgia Southern. The Bobcats are currently riding a nine-game win streak.

Bobcat ace Jessica Mullins tossed 18.2 innings of one-run softball and limited opponents to a .115 batting average en route to earning four wins in five Texas State games last week.

Cat Crenek leads the Texas State offense batting .378 with a pair of doubles, a triple and a home run.
