TROY, Ala. – Leanna Johnson hurled a one-hit shutout to down UT Arlington, 5-0, and earn the game one win Friday night at the Troy Softball Complex.

Johnson (17-8) gave up just one hit in the top of the fourth and fanned seven Mavericks (20-19, 10-9 Sun Belt) to pick up the win in game one of a pivotal Sun Belt series.

With the win, the junior notched her seventh shutout of the season, etching her name into eighth in Troy's single-season record. Johnson has notched at least seven shutouts in all four seasons with the Trojans (26-14, 12-7 Sun Belt).

Troy broke the game wide open in the bottom of the third, plating four runs off three hits.

A hit by pitch, single from Candela Figueroa and a walk loaded the bases for Jade Sinness with one out. Sinness sent the first pitch she saw into left field, scratching across the first two runs of the contest.

Libby Baker followed with a two-out single to center field to cap off the home half of the third with another pair of runs.

Logan Calhoun hit an infield single in the bottom of the fourth to score Audra Thompson, who led off with a single to the Maverick shortstop and tally an insurance run for the Trojans.

Johnson worked around two walks over the next three frames to secure the win in the series opener.

Jessica Adams suffered the loss after allowing five runs off five hits and a walk through her 4.0 innings of work.

Notable

Kelly Horne drew her 99^th career walk in tonight's contest. The junior is now one walk away from matching the program record.
Jade Sinness was the lone Trojan to record a multi-hit contest while both Sinness and Libby Baker tallied a multi-RBI game.
The Trojans are on a four-game win streak within conference play.
