Little Rock's Late Rally Stuns Troy

TROY, Ala. – A late two-run rally in the top of the eighth was enough for Little Rock to secure the 4-3 victory over Troy Saturday afternoon from Riddle-Pace Field.
This was only the second loss at home for Troy (18-8, 5-3) as their nine-game home win streak ended.
After a sensational outing from freshman starting pitcher Brady Fuller all afternoon, Little Rock (12-12, 2-6) was able to get to the Troy bullpen in the eighth frame after stringing together three singles to take their first lead of the day.
Fuller went a season-high 6.2 innings pitched with six strikeouts, two walks, and only one run allowed on four hits.
Kyle Gamble (0-2) is given the loss after allowing three runs, including the fourth and final run for Little Rock.
For Little Rock, Chance Vaught (2-3) picks up the win coming out of the bullpen as he was able to shut down the Trojan offense.
Getting his third consecutive start and second straight game in the lead-off spot. Right fielder Kyle Mock took the first pitch he saw and sent it 370 feet to the fans in left field for his third career home run to give Troy a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
May 22, 2021, was the last time a Trojan led off the game with a home run when Drew Fredrick did it against Louisiana.
Picking up where he left off last night, William Sullivan added his fourth RBI of the series with a single, bringing in Clay Stearns, who led off the bottom of the third inning with a walk.
Troy scored in back-to-back innings after getting runners at the corners bringing up Rigsby Mosey, who hit a ball to the warning track for a sacrifice fly and the third Troy run.
That run was the final run Troy would plate as the offense couldn't get anything going after that. Little Rock responded with a solo home run from Jack Stroth in the top of the fifth to get on the board.
After loading the bases and nobody out, a big inning looked to be on its way in the bottom of the fifth for Troy. However, Little Rock turned to the bullpen and was able to get a strikeout and a double play to avoid any damage.
That missed opportunity proved costly as Troy was able to get to Little Rock starter Erik McKnight for three runs on five hits in four innings but was shut down after with only one base runner reaching base due to a walk.
Kyle Gamble relieved Fuller to get the final out of the seventh and was greeted by Jack Stroth's second home run of the day to make it a one-run ball game at 3-2. Gamble responded by striking out the next batter to end the inning.
Marquez Oates came into the ball game looking for his seventh save of the season. Little Rock stole second base with runners at the corners to get the go-ahead run into scoring position. Oates had the hitter in an 0-2 hole but left a pitch up in the middle of the zone that Nathan Lyons did not miss as he singled to bring in the tying and winning run.
Up Next: Troy will look to win the series tomorrow, Sunday, April 3, at 1 p.m. as they wrap up their three-game set with Little Rock.
