ATLANTA – Troy stumbled on the road at Georgia Tech, 8-1, to snap a four-game win streak Tuesday night at Mewborn Field.
Troy (25-14) saw an early chance to plate a run in the top of the second when a pair of walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for the Trojans' lefty power hitter Jade Sinness, but a strikeout left the runners stranded.
In the bottom of the third, Georgia Tech (32-12) struck first off a two-run home run off the bat of Mallorie Black.
Troy cut the deficit in half when Sinness plated Kennedi Gaton, who led off the top of the fourth with a walk, off a fielder's choice.
However, the Yellow Jackets answered with a solo long ball by Sandra Beth Pritchett and an RBI single from Ella Edgmon in the bottom of the fourth.
Another solo shot in the home half of the fifth and trio of runs off one hit and four walks in the bottom of the sixth set up the 8-1 final.
Candela Figueroa and Anslee Finch tallied Troy's two hits on the night in the top of the sixth and seventh.
Leanna Johnson (16-8) suffered the loss for the Trojans after giving up six hits and five runs.
Blake Neleman (13-6) earned her 13th win of the season, allowing no hits and seven walks through her 4.0 innings of action.
