TROY, Ala. – Three home runs in the final two innings, including a William Sullivan walk-off home run, powered the Trojans to victory over Louisiana 4-3 Saturday afternoon from Riddle Pace-Field.
Seth Johnson, Trey Leonard, and Sullivan all played long ball to spur the comeback and give Troy (13-5) their seventh straight win.
Behind in the count, Sullivan crushed the baseball 414 feet to the right-center to give him his first home run of the season and send all those in attendance into a frenzy where a mob of Trojan teammates was there to greet Sullivan at home plate.
The Trojan rally began in the bottom of the eighth as Johnson stepped up as a pinch hitter for Rigsby Mosley. He took the first pitch he saw 366 feet to left field for his second home run of the season, making it a 3-2 ball game.
Two batters later, Leonard, for the second consecutive day, hit a home run and tied the ball game, and gave Troy all the momentum needed to win the game in the bottom of the ninth.
Grayson Stewart (3-1) picks up the win after coming in the bottom of the eighth and throwing one pitch to get the third and final out of the top half of the ninth.
Louisiana's (9-9) Jac Schultz (1-1) gets credited with the loss after Cajun starter Brandon Talley went 4.2 innings allowing one run on five hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.
Trojan starter Brady Fuller threw 103 pitches, the most of any Trojan pitcher this season, and finished going a season-high 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits, three walks, and six strikeouts.
Freshman Keaton Fuller came on in relief, throwing 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball to keep the game within reach for Troy.
Louisiana struck first after Tyler Robertson launched a solo home run in the top of the fourth to give the Rajun Cajun's the lead.
Fuller found himself in a bit of jam in the top of the fifth after a leadoff walk came around to score off a sacrifice fly from Kyle DeBarge and a single from Carson Roccaforte plated the third Cajun run of the afternoon but was able to get out of the inning stranding two runners on base.
Brandon Schrepf would put Troy on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth for the Trojan's first run of the ballgame.
Troy's last seven-game win streak came back in 2016 when they began the season winning seven straight.
Up Next: The Trojans will go for the series sweep tomorrow, Sunday, March 20, at 1 p.m.
