Trojans Return from Camel City Invitational with a Season-High 19 Top-Five Finishes

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – The Trojans continue their strong showing this season as they wrapped up the Camel City Invitational over the weekend with a season-high 20 top-five finishes in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Right out the gate, it was Jordan McCeskey setting the pace with a 49.66 400m dash which gave him first place in the event and was his fastest time on the year. Alan Johnson was the second Trojan to take home first place as his time of 1:21.27 in the men's 600 led the way.
After finishing in fourth in qualifying, Julian Martin Rodgers finished in fifth place in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.15 seconds. This is the third time Martin Rodgers finished in the top five in the event this season.
After a fourth-place at the UAB Vulcan Invite in the men's 200 dash, Alex Robinson could do one better this week as he finished third with a time of 22.23, which is his best time this year. With a 15.33m throw in the men's shout put, Javon Osburne was able to add to the Trojan's top-five finishes as he placed fifth.
The men's 4x400 meter relay squad made up of McCesky, Robinson, Johnson, and Chance Armstrong saw their second top-five finish of the yea,r coming in third with a time of 3:18.98.
Naveyh Frost and Maya Kelly saw themselves among the leaders in multiple events on the women's side of things. First, Kelly finished third in the women's 60m dash with her fastest time of the year of 7.70 seconds. Frost missed the top five but finished in sixth with a 7.75-second run.
Frost would earn her top-five finish in the women's 200m dash after running a 25.19 putting her in third. Her time is the fastest of any Trojan athlete in the event this year.
The women's 600m saw two trojans take home top-five finishes, with Alexandria Rankin finishing in second and Jeanty coming in fourth. Rankin came in with a time of 1:36.32 and Jeaty 1:37.33. Tanner Guest in the women's 1000m saw fifth place after recording a time of 3:01.20.
Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente took home top-five finishes in two separate events. First, her 5.44m jump put her fifth in the women's long jump. Then, Gutierrez Fuente followed that performance with a fourth-place finish in the women's triple jump, going 11.40m.
To wrap things up, the women's 4x400 meter relay team made up of Vennessa Frank, Rankin, Kelly, and Jeaty were able to secure third place with a time of 3:57.10, which was followed by a second-place finish in the women's distance medley made up of Tanner Guest, Reagan McCall, Cortny Wilmington, and Lauren Locke ending with a time of 12:24.35.
Up Next: The Trojans will head back to Birmingham for the third time this season for the Samford Invite at the end of the week.
