Â
TROY, Ala. – Basketball fever is at an all-time high at Troy, with the Trojan women entering this week's Sun Belt Tournament as the No. 1 seed and the Trojan men heading to Pensacola, Fla., as the No. 4 seed. With that, Troy Athletics is planning a takeover of Pensacola and the Bay Center for Troy's games on the road to March Madness.
Â
"Our fans have been tremendous with their support for our men's and women's basketball teams all season," Director of Athletics Brent Jones said. "Trojan Nation took over Pensacola for the Sun Belt Tournament last year, and we expect an even bigger turnout for this year's tournament. We have several great events planned throughout the weekend for our fans to celebrate both of our amazing teams."
Â
Troy Fan Headquarters
World of Beer (200 S Palafox Street) will serve as the official Troy Fan Headquarters for the duration of the weekend in Pensacola. Members of the Troy Athletics staff will be on hand Friday evening (5-8 p.m.), and fans in Troy apparel will receive 20 percent off any drink purchase for the entirety of the Sun Belt Tournament.Â
Â
Additionally, World of Beer is one of the stops along the free trolley line that will take fans to the Bay Center. The trolley is available on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Â
Saturday Fan Social
Troy Athletics and the Troy Alumni Association are teaming up for a fan social at McGuire's Irish Pub (600 E Gregory Street) from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday ahead of the Troy men's quarterfinal matchup against either South Alabama or Little Rock, which is slated for 2 p.m.
Â
Troy Athletics and the Troy Alumni Association will provide appetizers for those in attendance in the Grand Hall room. McGuire's is located just a half-mile from the Bay Center, a 10-minute walk.
Â
Hotel Send-Offs
Troy fans wishing to send off the Trojans in style can do so by joining the Troy Cheerleaders and Sound of the South Pep Band at the team hotel. Both the Troy men's and women's teams are staying at the Courtyard Marriott (451 Creighton Road) in Pensacola.Â
