Troy Cruises to Its Third Straight Victory

TROY, Ala. - Taking the first six points of the match, Troy defeats Alabama A&M, 6-1, to capture its third-straight victory at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
The Trojans (3-2) find themselves 2-0 at home for the second time in the past seven seasons, while the Bulldogs (0-4) grab their first point of the season.
Off the Rip
Troy got off to an impressive start, clinching the match after winning the first four points of the match, 4-0.
Sweeping doubles competition, Kristina Kukaras / Michelle Ncube started it off against Deja Brown / India Woods with a 6-0 victory.
Chiara Dabrano / Franziska Ahrend seized the match's first point after a quick 6-2 win over Camila Ruiz Diaz / Ximena D. Ramirez. Then, Anastasiia Khokhlova / Andrea Widing finished the sweep as Jasmine Boyd / Neha Ghare took it to 10 before falling, 6-4.
Ahrend and Olivia Elliott put Troy up 3-0 after winning their singles match. Elliot was the first on the board, winning 6-0 and 6-2. Ahrend followed it up against Woods with a 6-2 and 6-1 victory.
Hagar Amin clinched the match for the second time in three matches, sweeping Neha Ghare in the first, 6-0. Ghare tried to stay within reach, but Amin expanded her lead until she captured the win, 6-2.
Gentleman's Sweep
Kukaras and Ncube finished the match 2-0 overall, defeating Brown and Camila Ruiz Diaz, respectively, ballooning the Trojan led to 6-0.
Troy still had Khokhlova left in play against Boyd, seeing a potential sweep insight. Instead, Khokhlova dropped the first, 6-2, before taking the second, 6-1, to send it to an extra set. Both sides fought until Boyd took the last two to avoid the sweep for the Bulldogs, 6-1.
