Troy Softball Picked Third in Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a second-place finish in the Sun Belt regular season, Troy Softball was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The 2021 Trojans posted a 17-6 mark in league play and swept five conference series for the first time since 2005. Troy finished the season 37-17 overall and second in the Sun Belt Conference, which received four selections into the NCAA Tournament.
Troy also made a trip to the semifinals of the Sun Belt Tournament and tallied three wins over Power Five opponents – Ole Miss, North Carolina, Georgia Tech – the most since 2012.
The Trojans are slated to open the 2022 campaign next Friday as Troy welcomes College of Charleston, Southern Illinois and Purdue Fort Wayne into the Troy Softball Complex for the annual Trojan Classic.
Troy opens play on Friday at 2 p.m. against the College of Charleston.
