Troy Adds No. 6-Ranked Player in Alabama: Kerrington Kiel

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball head coach Scott Cross announced Friday afternoon the addition of Kerrington Kiel from Ramsay High School.
"I first watched Kerrington at our Elite Camp, which excites me because we take a lot of pride in our camps, and having high-level guys come through is great," Cross said. "What impressed me the most were his intangibles and his leadership. He is dominant in games because he is so well-rounded. He passes it, shoots it, rebounds it, defends and leads his team all at a high level. He is definitely the type of guy we want in our program."
At 6-6, Kiel is positioned as a natural wing player after competing at Ramsay. While in high school, Kiel led his team to the 2022 5A State Championship. That season, Kiel averaged 16.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
Kiel has gained attention across Alabama, receiving several accolades that include All-Regional First Team as the 5A Regional MVP. He was also named 5A All-State First Team, All-Birmingham First Team and a 5A Player of the Year Finalist. In addition, the future Trojan was one of the select Alabama North vs. South All-Star Game participants.
With this announcement, Kiel joins three other signees in Thomas Dowd, Jerrell Bellamy and Myles Rigsby, for the class of 2023.
