TROY, Ala. – The Trojans women's basketball team will continue their seven-game road trip to start the season with the first of four games in the pacific time zone on Sunday when they travel to UCLA for a non-conference bout.
The battle between UCLA and Troy will mark the first time these two teams have played in each other, and it will also be the Trojans' first regular season contest in the state of California. Troy has not ventured this far west since the 2016 NCAA Tournament First Round game against Oregon State.
UCLA, like Troy, has won its first two games to start the season. The Bruins captured an 84-48 victory over Cal Poly to begin the year before coming away with a 64-43 win over UC Riverside. The Trojans have won both of their games on the road to begin the season, taking down Samford and UT Martin.

Troy will play a school from the PAC 12 for just the second time in program history. The Trojans met Oregon State in March 2016 in the NCAA Tournament. The Beavers bested the Trojans in that game, winning 73-31. The meeting in Los Angeles will be the first time the Trojans have played a regular-season game in the state of California. Outside of traveling to Hawaii in 1994, the furthest west the Trojans have ventured was Denver, Colorado to play former Sun Belt Conference member Denver.
Senior Texas Tech transfer Jada Walton had a career night in Troy's previous game against UT Martin. The guard lit up the scoresheet for 18 points, setting a new career best. She also set a career mark in rebounding against the Skyhawks, grabbing seven rebounds while adding four assists, a block, and two steals. She would finish 7-15 from the floor in 24 minutes of action.
Newcomer Tai'Sheka Porchia recorded her first double-double as a member of the Troy Trojans on Thursday. The Arkansas native finished second on the team in scoring with 14 points and added 11 rebounds to her total against the Skyhawks. Through two games this season, Porchia is averaging 11.5 points per game with 10 rebounds per contest.
One of the few returners on the roster this season, Sharonica Hartsfield fell just short of breaking her own school record of most steals in a single game. The sophomore guard needed nine steals to tie the record but finished the game with eight takeaways against UT Martin. She would go on to add six points, 10 assists, and four rebounds to her totals.
The Trojans have already been tested in the dying moments of games this season, with both of their games having come down to the wire in the final minutes. Troy was able to hold on to a four-point win against Samford in the season-opener thanks to stellar defense. This time, it was a 3-point shooting barrage in the final minutes that secured Troy's 89-84 win. The Trojans scored 31 points in the fourth quarter and tallied 10 threes in the game.
