TROY, Ala. – The final two-week sprint to the postseason begins on Sunday when Troy welcomes Texas State to the Troy Soccer Complex at 1 p.m.
The Trojans (3-6-3, 1-3-2 SBC) sit tied for fifth in the west division of the Sun Belt standings with five points to their name, while the Bobcats (10-2-2, 4-1-1 SBC) have amassed 13 points for first – top 10 teams by points punch a ticket to the tournament regardless of division.
Battled Back to Tie
Last Sunday's match saw the Trojans start slow against Southern Miss, managing only two shots with one on goal by Nia Wilson in the entire first half.
Southern Miss quickly took the lead with a goal at the five-minute mark by Blessing Kingsley to the middle-center to put the score 1-0.
After some halftime adjustments, Troy, led by Caylah Williams, tied the match up three minutes into the second half, 1-1, off the header assist from Jayla Gage. The final 42 minutes had Troy unable to produce much offense, losing the shot battle 5-to-0 in that span to finish the match with a 1-1 draw.
