TROY, Ala. -Â Harold Warren has been named Troy soccer's associate head coach, head coach Robert Lane announced Thursday. Warren joins the Trojans with six years head coaching experience and a national title on his resume.
Â
"When building our staff here at Troy, I knew that trust, loyalty and excellence were qualities I wanted in a colleague, Lane said. "Harold checks each of those boxes, and his impact will be immediately felt by our staff and, more importantly, the players in this program. It's a privilege to add Harold, and I look forward to the opportunity to build something special at Troy, knowing he will challenge everyone involved in this program to compete daily and chase success."
Â
Warren spent six years as the head women's coach at UAB, where he turned around a Blazers' program as they reached double-digit victories in his third year, a first for UAB in five years. Before his stint with the Blazers, Warren spent four years out West on the staff at USC.
Â
While at USC, he helped turn the Trojans into one of the most successful programs in the nation, working with the defense as associate head coach. The Trojans earned berths in the NCAA Tournament in each of his four seasons while compiling a cumulative 61-20-10 record. The Trojans won their first national title in 2007, finishing with a 20-3-2 record. In addition, USC recorded 15 shutouts and allowed only 13 goals during the season.
Â
"I'm extremely excited and blessed to be here at Troy University," Warren said. "Joining a Trojan family that strives for success in the classroom and on the field like they do, is an institution that fits me perfectly. I want to thank head coach Robert Lane for giving me the opportunity to not only work with a great staff but to help build a program built for success and full of great young ladies that I'm looking forward to help teach, train, coach and guide."
Â
Prior to his successful run at USC, Warren spent four seasons as an assistant at Arizona, where the Wildcats reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Coaching in the Pac-12, Warren cumulated a combined 101-55-17 with both programs.
Â
Warren comes to Troy following two seasons as an assistant coach at Yavapai College. He helped guide the Roughriders to a postseason appearance in the NJCAA Division I Region I Championship. Before heading to Yavapai, Warren coached at Syracuse for one season.Â
Â
Warren began his coaching career at UC Irvine in 2002 after being an assistant coach and scout for the California Olympic Development Program (ODP) 16-17 age group.Â
Â
As a player, Warren was a defender and a forward at Riverside Community College before transferring to Cal State Fullerton in 1989. He then transferred to Cal Poly Pomona, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications in 2002.
