COLUMBIA, South Carolina – A week after setting the school record in the women's 600m, Edita Sklenska did it again in the 800m to go along with a facility record in the event to lead the way for Troy Track and Field Saturday afternoon at the Carolina Challenge from Columbia, South Carolina.
Sklenska's came in first in the women's 800m with a time of 2:07.95, setting the Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex record. That time is also the 10th best time in the country in the event.
"I am pleased with how we competed," Director of track and field Marc Davis said. "We have some cleaning up of the little things we have to do. But, little things are key to achieving the big goals we have. A motto we follow is to trust the process. These kids will get better and better from week to week because that is what the process is supposed to do. We have a long way to go, but in four weeks, you will see us at our best."
Three Trojans rounded out the top five in the women's shot put, led by Abby Grosinke, who set a personal record with a 13.50m throw finishing in second place. Leah Kennedy followed Grosinke in third with a throw of 11.94m, and in fifth, Biniosa finished with a 13.23m throw.
The men also had a strong showing in the shot put, with Javon Osbourne finishing in third and Nash Rutledge in fourth. Osbourne had a throw of 14.93m, and Rutledge followed with a throw of 14.60m
The Trojans saw two more top five finishers in the women's triple jump, as Alejandra Gutierrez Fuente finished in second with an 11.94m jump and Camryn Pettus came in fourth with a jump of 11.52m.
Up Next: The Trojans will hit the road to Winston Salem, North Carolina, as they participate in the Camel City Invitational on February fourth and fifth.
