TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's golf team returns to action for the second time under new head coach Forrest Schultz when the Trojans play in the Graeme McDowell Invitational at the 7,467-yard RJT at Silver Lakes Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
The Trojans are coming off a 12th-place finish among a 20-team field at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate a couple of weeks ago. Schultz will go with the same lineup as the opener, looking to build on the solid start to the season.
Will McFadden led Troy in the fall opener with a 1-under 215 as he would finish in a tie for 21st place. The Trojan junior shot 3-under in the opening round and fired even-par in the final round.
Nicklas Borrmann and Kyle Cornelius tied for 49th place at the Jim Rivers with a 6-over 221. The duo were both around par all three rounds, with four of their six combined rounds within two shots, including Cornelius' 1-under 71.
The freshman duo of Brantley Scott and Jake Springer will both look to build on a positive round in the opener; Scott shot 3-under in the first round, and Springer was even-par in the second round. In addition, Reagan Harrell will make his 2021 debut and compete as an individual.
The Field
Troy, UAB, Charleston Southern, Jacksonville State, Florida Gulf Coast, Samford, Winthrop, Lipscomb, Louisiana, ULM, Texas State, Georgia State, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, North Alabama
T-Time
The 15-team field will play split tee times for Monday's two rounds; Troy will be paired with Lipscomb and Georgia State with the first threesome set for a 7:30 a.m. tee time off No. 10.
