CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In a field of over 30 teams on both sides, the women brought home eighth place while the men finished 12th at the Queens City Invite Friday at McAlpine Creek Park.
Â
"Most, if not all, of the team recorded personal bests today, which is nice for this time of year," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "I think they did a good job of running as a pack and pushing themselves. We also gained some valuable experience racing against a large field. There is still work to do, to be sure, but I like the direction we are moving!"
Â
On the women's side, the Trojans recorded 222 points en route to the eighth-place finish out of 32.
Â
Lauren Locke led the way with a 32nd-place finish in 18:35, a 5k personal best, while Tanner Guest crossed the finish line directly behind Locke with a time of 18:36 to finish 33rd overall.
Â
Cadi Rowe rounded out Troy's top-three finishers placing 39th in 18:41.
Â
For the men, Blake Vaughn paced the Trojans for the third consecutive meet finishing 49th. Vaughn shaved 38 seconds off his 8k personal best with a time of 25:43.
Â
James Brake and Mason Bennett rounded out Troy's top-three finishes placing 71st and 80th respectively. Brake and Bennett's times of 26:10 and 26:15 were also both personal bests.
Â
The men tallied 386 points to finish 12th out of 34.

The Trojans will take three weeks off before returning to the course at the FSU XC Invite on Friday, Oct. 15.
