CHOUDRANT, La. – Will McFadden fired a final round 72 to lead Troy to a 12th place finish in the season-opening Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at the Squire Creek Golf Club. McFadden finished the week tied for 21st place overall at 1-under par.
McFadden had an eventful round with three birdies, an eagle and five bogeys. He made the turn at 2-under as all three birdies, along with his eagle on the par-5 second, came on the front nine.
Nicklas Borrmann wrapped up a solid week with a 1-over 73 in Tuesday's final round to finish the event tied for 49th place at 5-over par. He carded a pair of birdies to close out the week and played two of his three rounds within a stroke of par.
LSU outlasted UTSA for the team title as the Tigers shot 23-under par as a team. Troy finished the 54-hole event 12-over par as a team and just three shots back of a top-10 finish in the 20-team field.
Kyle Cornelius carded a birdie on Tuesday and shot 74 on the day to move into a tie for 49th place overall. Brantley Scott finished his round with a 6-over 78 with five birdies on his card, but four big numbers pushed his card in the other direction. Jake Springer added four birdies in a round of 78 as he finished in 100th place overall.
Troy returns to action Sept. 27-28 at the Graeme McDowell Invitational hosted by UAB at the Greystone Country Club in Birmingham.
