Wilson’s Second Half Goal Pushes Troy to Draw Against Grambling State

GRAMBLING, La. -- Behind an 89th-minute goal from Nia Wilson, the Troy women's soccer team battled Grambling State to a 1-1 draw Sunday at the GSU Soccer complex.
It was Grambling State (0-5-1) who hopped on the board first in the 36th-minute from the likes of Kailey Pena.
The Trojans (3-3-1) saw their best opportunity to even the score with a corner kick that resulted in a shot by Wilson in the 43rd-minute that just missed the back of the net.
Troy came out of the half looking to manifest scoring opportunities using a corner in the 59th minute to generate a pair of shots by Caylah Williams.
Troy goalkeeper Lindsay LaRoche kept the Trojans within fighting distance, recording three saves on the afternoon.
With one minute left to play, the Trojans used Wilson's goal to send the match into overtime.
Despite the extra 20 minutes, neither side was able to strike up any offense and the match ended in a draw.
