Â
TROY, Ala. – Troy's popular Football Tailgate Concert Series returns for the 2021 season with an exciting lineup for each of the Trojans' six home games at The Vet. The free concerts will take place each week in Tailgate Terrace three hours prior to kickoff.
Â
Artists for the first two games are set, with country duo The Springs taking the stage on Sept. 4 before the home opener against Southern, while Troy University's POPulus will entertain fans before the Liberty game on Sept. 11. Both acts are return performers to the Tailgate Concert Series after The Springs opened the 2018 season on state prior to Troy's game against Boise State, while POPulus has performed several shows.
Â
Single-game tickets will go on sale to the public on Wednesday for all six home games, and fans can still purchase season tickets for as low as $60 for the upcoming season. Tickets will be available by calling 877-878-WINS (9467) or by visiting TroyTrojans.com/tickets.Â
Â
The Springs – Saturday, Sept. 4
Although they both grew up in Alabama, Holly Helms and Stewart Halcomb of The Springs first met playing the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. Little did they know they would become partners, offstage and on, amassing over one million streams across platforms, and opening for stars like Florida Georgia Line, Kelly Clarkson, Reba, Little Big Town, Eric Church, Alan Jackson, and many more.Â
Â
Once together, there was no stopping them. Their live shows began to endear them to a rapidly growing fan base; they have made regular appearances at CMA Music Festival; charted on the Billboard Country Chart with their latest release, "Old Fashioned," hitting #33; and their albums have landed on top 10 lists on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Music. But perhaps most importantly, the two are now married.
Â
POPulus – Saturday, Sept. 11
POPulus is Troy University's popular music ensemble comprised of students in the Music Industry Program. Artists of diverse and eclectic styles blend with a concert production team in a unique musical environment honoring all genres of American popular music. The term POPulus was created by combining the musical genre "POP" with "ulus," a Mediterranean languages term for "Nation" or "People." With their dynamic vibe and distinctive name, their music appeals across genres, generations and geographic borders.Â
Â
POPulus not only plays covers from well-known artists, but they also play original songs written by students from Troy University's Music Industry Program. Their music is available online at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and multiple streaming sites around the globe.
