Need To Know
• Nicole Waters was named the interim head coach on Monday, July 26 after the departure of Ged O'Connor who returned to St. Leo. Waters guided the Trojans to a 3-2 win last Friday at Alabama State in the team's lone exhibition.
• Only three of Troy's seven all-time head coaches have won their debut match. The last coach to win in their debut was Chris Bentley back in 2008 when he guided Troy to a 3-1 win over Faulkner. Of the three head coaching debut wins, none were against a Division I opponent.
• The Trojans return their top three goal scorers, assist leaders and total point earners from last season. Kate Eubanks & Melissa Kuya-Strobel tied for the most goals scored (3) and points earned (7) while Taytum Terrell finished third in each statistic (5 points, 2 goals). Alisa Detlefsen led the team in assists (3) while Erin Bloomfield finished second (2) & Eubanks third (1).
• Troy will have one of the youngest rosters in the Sun Belt Conference this season with 18 freshman and eight sophomores. Troy will have just three seniors and no juniors.
• Of Troy's 18 freshman, nine are first year players with the other nine retaining their freshman eligibility due to the NCAA giving all players from last season a free year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
• The Trojans will have four captains this season: Kate Eubanks (Sr.), Taytum Terrell (So.), Alisa Detlefsen (Sr.) and Lindsey LaRoche (Fr.).
• Troy returns nine starters from last year's squad while also returning 83 percent of the team's points, 77 percent of the team's goals and 100 percent of the team's assists from last season.
• New season, new hashtag. This year Troy has adopted the hashtag #OneMore. The term "One More" is the Trojans' mentality for the season and references the ability to take "One More Shot", do "One More Rep", "One More Sprint". It's a mindset to keep pushing yourself even when you get tired, that there is always something left to give.
• Eubanks enters Friday on a 41-match start streak that started back on Sept. 4, 2018.
