TROY, Ala. – Troy football head coach Chip Lindsey announced Friday the newest member of the Trojans' signing class with the addition of Clayton Ollendieck from Iowa Central Community College.
A 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end, Ollendieck caught 11 passes for 98 yards and four touchdowns in Iowa Central's abbreviated seven-game schedule this spring. The Cresco, Iowa native put on a show against Ellsworth Community College with six catches for 75 yards, and he found the end zone three times in the game.
"Starting last fall and into the spring, we've tried to incorporate our tight ends into our offensive scheme a little more," Lindsey said. "Clayton is a great blocker at the point of the attack and also has the ability to get open in space and provide a nice passing target for our quarterbacks. We're excited to get him on campus next week, and we look forward to welcoming him to our program."
Ollendieck earned first team all-conference honors as a receiver at Crestwood High School in addition to earning all-conference honors as a first baseman for the baseball team.
"I am a very strong believer in the weight room and how it translates to the football field," Ollendieck recently told ictritons.com. "Many years of grinding and transforming my body, adding size and muscle has been my main focus going into college football. Habits and everyday discipline have also had a major impact on my success. Going into this year, specifically, I focused on the mental side of the game and making sure my mind and body were on the same page."
Troy players are expected back on campus this weekend as the Trojans prepare for summer workouts and the 2021 season.
