TROY, Ala. – Troy sophomore Nicole Lorup has been named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team, the league office announced Wednesday. It is the second All-Sun Belt recognition of her career to go along with 2019 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors.
Lorup led the Trojans with a 73.93 stroke average and five rounds under par this past season. She finished the year with a 2.14 score vs. par and 27 of her 28 individual rounds counted towards Troy's team card. Lorup's stroke average ranked as the fifth-lowest in a season in school history and she'll carry the lowest career mark, 73.60, into the 2021-22 season next year.
The All-Sun Belt Teams were determined based on the final Golfstat national rankings for the individual players. Lorup finished the season ranked No. 305 nationally and missed out on the first team by just six spots in the rankings. She was Troy's top finisher in seven of the Trojans' 10 events on the year and was responsible for five of the top 54-hole scores of the season.
Lorup earned All-Sun Belt First Team honors in 2019 with a 74.17 stroke average and was poised for the league's top honor in last year's shortened season after posting a school record 72.56 stroke average; the league did not award All-Sun Belt teams last year.
