TROY, Ala. – After nearly a month off, the Troy women's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Lady Red Wolves Classic, hosted by Arkansas State at Sage Meadows Country Club.
Troy's first two tournaments of the year have produced two Sun Belt Golfer of the Week honors for the Trojans in Manya Saini and Roberta Alvarez. Saini finished fourth at 1-under in the season-opening Golfweek Fall Classic, while Alvarez finished sixth with a 4-under 212 at the Pirate Collegiate Classic a week later.
The Trojans shot an 882 as a team at the Pirate Collegiate Classic their last time out, a total that would have been their top card all of last season. Additionally, Trojan golfers have combined for three rounds under-par through two events, one-third of their total from a year ago.
Alvarez is one of three first-year Trojans ranked among the team's top four in scoring average, leading the way at 0.50 vs. par for the year. Saini is close behind at 0.83, followed by Mara Dajer (1.83) and Anna Roldan Sewald (4.67). Mathilda Ringblom will make her season debut under first-year head coach JD Lamm, while Phenyo Sebata will make her collegiate debut as an individual.
