TROY, Ala. – Powered offensively by freshman Audra Thompson, Troy pushed back ULM to advance in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Wednesday at the Troy Softball Complex.

Thompson shined in her eighth career start and plated three crucial insurance runs for Troy (35-14), going 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and her first career triple.

In similar fashion as the night before, Troy struck first when Kelly Horne monstered a long ball over the left-center wall, this time a two-run shot.

Leanna Johnson (20-7) fired a trio of three up, three down innings to send the game into the fourth.

After the Trojans stranded a pair of runners in the top half of the frame, ULM (17-32) plated its first and only run of the contest off a fielding error that scored Jayden Mount, who led off with a walk.

A quiet two innings sent the game into the final frame of the contest, where Thompson came in clutch plating three insurance runs for the Trojans.

Katie Webb ignited Troy's offense with a one-out double down the left field line.

A walk and a single by Libby Baker loaded the bases for the freshman, five-hole hitter.

The righty then rocketed a bases-clearing double to add much needed insurance runs and give Troy the eventual 5-1 victory.

Johnson calmly retired the side to solidify her 20^th win of the season.

Gianna Hulett (6-11) suffered the loss for the Warhawks, allowing two runs and three hits.

"Today was a great bounce back win for our team. I thought Leanna had a really gritty performance on the mound, and we played great defense behind her! I am excited to get back out there tomorrow and take it one game at a time."

NOTABLE

With the win, Troy snapped a four-game Sun Belt Conference Tournament losing streak that dated back to May 11, 2018. Troy fell to Texas State, 9-5, in the night cap of Friday's tournament action.
With the win, Leanna Johnson records her second consecutive 20-win season (in a complete season).
Troy had four players record multi-hit games (Katie Lively, Kelly Horne, Audra Thompson and Katelynn de Leon). For de Leon and Thompson, it was their second this season.

The Trojans look for vengeance against the UTA Mavericks, who bumped Troy into the loser's bracket. First pitch is set for 12:30 p.m. Friday.
