Finch Breaks Own School Record, Troy Wins Multiple Events at Maroon & White Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Gemma Finch broke her own school record in the women's 800m run in one of three Troy victories on Saturday's final day of the Mississippi State Maroon & White Invitational.

Finch and Edita Sklenska finished first and second in the 800, respectively. Finch crossed the line in a time of 2:05.29, which is the 21^st fastest time in the country this season, to break her own school record she set two weeks ago at the War Eagle Invitational. Sklenska, who won three golds at the Sun Belt Indoor Championship, finished with a career-best time of 2:06.94.

Macki Walsh took home top honors in the 1500m run with a career-best time of 4:31.82. Troy's women's 4x400m relay team also came away with a top finish crossing in a time of 3:45.69. Kasia Cooper and Precious Ogba went two-three in the 400m dash while Camryn Pettus finished fourth in the triple jump and Alexandria Rankin placed fifth in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time.

On the men's side, the 4x400m relay team took home second place, while Chance Armstrong posted a career-best in the 800m and Julian Martin-Rogers added a persnal best in the 110m hurdles. Cole Stewart's javelin throw of 63.09 meters was the longest by a Trojan this season and the sixth longest in school history.

The Trojans head to Mobile, Ala., in two weeks for the Sun Belt Conference Championship May 13-15.
