TROY, Ala. – The Troy Softball team looks to continue its hot streak with a midweek conference rivalry matchup against South Alabama. First pitch from the Troy Softball Complex is set for 6 p.m.
Â
The Trojans (25-6, 9-0 Sun Belt) are coming off their third consecutive conference series sweep after blanking Georgia Southern in each game last weekend.
Â
Troy's pitching staff is led by reigning Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week Leanna Johnson. Johnson has kicked off conference play with an impressive 0.39 ERA with 52 strikeouts over 36 innings of work.
Â
Last weekend, the sophomore became just the fourth Trojan to eclipse the 50-career wins mark in game two of the doubleheader Saturday.
Â
Reigning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week Katie Lively has stayed hot throughout conference action batting a .536 mark with four doubles, four home runs and 11 RBIs.
Â
The sophomore notched the first Sun Belt weekly award of her career after bolstering a monstrous .800 batting average, 1.500 slugging percentage and three RBIs. Of the outfielder's eight hits last weekend, five went for extra bases.
Â
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS:
South Alabama (17-11, 6-3 SBC) enters the midweek games after not having played in nearly a week. The Jaguars are coming off a 1-0 victory over McNeese State last Wednesday in Mobile but will take on Nicholls State Tuesday before traveling to Troy.
