Men's Tennis falls to Georgia State on Senior Day

TROY, Ala. โ On senior day at the Lunsford Tennis Complex, the Troy men's tennis team fell to the Panthers of Georgia State by a score of 4-1. The loss drops the Trojans to 18-3 overall and 2-2 in the Sun Belt Conference while Georgia State improves to 13-5, 5-0 SBC.

Early in the afternoon everything was going Troy's way. The weather was perfect, the seniors were honored and the Trojans looked strong in doubles action. When doubles got started, Georgia State took a victory on court one before a strong performance on court two from Nicolas Simkin and Christopher Tasker evened doubles at a match apiece. The doubles point was finally clinched on court three when the duo of Amer Bedwan and Carles Anton won a tiebreak to clinch the point for the Trojans.

Doubles went the way of the Trojans, but singles went the way of the Panthers. Georgia State, needing to win four of the six singles matches, defeated the Trojans with four straight wins on courts one, two, four and five, clinching the match for GSU.

Troy will be on the road next weekend for one match when they make the long trek to Conway, S.C. to take on the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. (CT) on Sunday.
