TROY, Ala. – Troy snapped a six-game skid with a 5-3 victory in the series finale on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field. The Trojans got back in the win column behind a career-best 4-for-4, two-RBI day from Dalton Sinquefield.
Nic Nolan produced two RBIs with a single and a sac-fly while Clay Stearns homered for the fifth time this season. Caleb Bartolero scored a career-high three runs in a 2-for-3 effort.
Marquez Oates (2-1) secured the fifth win of his career with a three inning, scoreless relief outing in which he only allowed one hit. Max Newton tallied his first-career save after retiring the only batter he faced for the game's final out. Bay Witcher and Mason Kenney each struck out two while throwing 4.0 and 1.2 innings, respectively.
Troy grabbed its first lead of the series in the bottom of the second inning after Nolan pushed an RBI-single to right field, scoring Bartolero. Sinquefield's second hit of the game, a hard-hit single through the right side, came in the third inning and gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead.
A highlight reel catch from Logan Cerny wasn't enough to keep the Bobcats at bay in the fourth inning as Texas State pulled even on a two-RBI single.
Troy regained a one-run lead in the bottom of the sixth when Stearns moved a pair of Trojans with a well-placed sac bunt, allowing Nolan to drive in a run with a sac-fly. The next inning, Sinquefield recorded his fourth single of the game to score Frederic from second and give the Trojans a 4-2 lead. Stearns added some insurance for the Trojans with a solo homer, his fifth of the season, in the eighth.
Texas State crossed a run and brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Newton forced a pop up to ice the game.
Jonathan Martinez (0-1) hung the loss for the Bobcats after surrendering the go-ahead run for the Trojans in the sixth.

"I'm really happy for our players today. It was a hard-fought win and they played well. It's been a tough stretch for our players and they earned this one. We pitched and defended extremely well today and we made every play we were supposed to. Nic Nolan made a couple nice plays and Logan Cerny made the play of the game with a diving grab in centerfield. We picked up some hits today and executed well to move runners and bring them in when we needed to. We had a chance to win every game this week and we finally got over the hump today."
