Men's Tennis has win streak snapped in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. โ The Troy men's tennis team fell for the first time in over month in its Sun Belt Conference opener against South Alabama, 2-4 on Friday in Mobile. With the loss, Troy is now 16-2 overall and 0-1 in the Sun Belt while South Alabama improves to 6-6 overall and 1-0 in conference.

The Trojan s kicked things off in strong fashion with a crucial win in doubles. Troy got the afternoon started with a victory on court three from the pair of Amer Bedwan and Carles Anton, who earn theย 6-1 decision. After falling on court one to a nationally ranked duo, Troy rebounded for a win on court two from Nicolas Simkin and Christopher Tasker to clinch the doubles point for the Trojans. It was the pairs eighth doubles win this season.

Troy enjoyed a one-point lead entering singles play thanks to their doubles victory. After South Alabama tied the match at one with a win on court two, the Trojans regained the lead when Tasker earned his 13th singles win of the season to put Troy up 2-1. The lead was only temporary as South was able to win the final three matches of the afternoon to pick up the win.

Troy will be back in action on Saturday when they play Louisiana in Mobile with the first serve scheduled for 11 a.m.. This will be Louisiana's first match of the weekend.
