Women's Tennis Opens Weekend with win over Georgia State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team opened its busy weekend at home with a big victory over Sun Belt rival Georgia State, 4-1. The win brings the Trojans record back to. 500 at 6-6 and 2-2 in the Sun Belt while dropping the Panthers to 2-12 overall and 0-4 in the SBC.
Troy got to work early with strong doubles play on all three courts. The Trojans picked up two quickly victories on courts one and three as the dup of Anastasiia Khokhlova and Anastasiia Khrustaleva earned a 7-5 victory followed by the 6-0, point clinching win on court three by Shevita Aulana and Matea Mihaljevic.
In singles action the Trojans continued their strong play with a dominating win from Mihaljevic on court one, 6-2, 6-0. After the Panthers earned their only point of the day with a win on court two, Troy followed it up with back-to-back wins on courts five and six by Kristina Kukaras and Khrustaleva to clinch the match for the Trojans.
Troy will be back at home on Sunday when they host Georgia Southern at 10 a.m.
