Â
TROY, Ala. – Troy will be playing in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament for the third time since 2016 and Trojan fans across the region can get together at one of three different watch parties Monday night to watch Troy take on Texas A&M in the opening round matchup on ESPN2.Â
Â
Troy Athletics will be hosting an NCAA Tournament Watch Party in Troy (Half Shell Oyster Bar & Grill), Montgomery (Wintzell's Oyster House) and Dothan (Buffalo Wild Wings). Tipoff between the Trojans and Aggies is set for 5 p.m. so fans are encouraged to arrive by 4:30 p.m. to secure their seat at each venue – Troy sections will be marked with decorated tables. Members of the Troy Athletics staff and Troy Cheerleaders will be at all three locations and T-Roy will be on hand at the Troy Watch Party.Â
No. 15 Troy (22-5) and No. 2 Texas A&M (23-2) will face off at the University of Texas' Frank Erwin Center in Austin. The Trojans and Aggies are joined in the Mercado Region by No. 7 seed Iowa State and No. 10 seed Michigan State. The winner of each first round game will advance to the second round with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line.
Â
Troy's Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship was its third since 2016 and fourth overall league crown during that time period. The Trojans will be making their fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2017.
Â
Texas A&M is ranked No. 4 in the latest polls and was projected as a potential No. 1 seed by ESPN's Charlie Creme in his latest ESPN Bracketology. The SEC Regular Season Champions are 23-2 on the year, boasting nine victories over ranked opponents. The Aggies achieved their highest ranking in program history (No. 2) and were a perfect 13-0 at home.
The meeting between Troy and Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament will be the first matchup between the two schools.Â
