Troy Set to Open Conference Play at UT Arlington

TROY, Ala. – The Troy Softball team is set to open conference play on the road against UT Arlington in a three-game series starting Saturday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.
The Trojans (16-5) will square off against the Mavericks (3-11) in a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Game one of the doubleheader is set for 1:30 p.m.
The Trojans' potent offense returns to the plate led by Katie Webb. The senior enters the weekend batting a .382 clip with five doubles and 15 RBIs.
Heading into Sun Belt play, Troy's 41 two-baggers lead the nation. The doubles effort is led by cleanup hitter Kelly Horne who has smashed eight this season.
In the circle, Leanna Johnson (8-3) leads the Troy pitching rotation with a 1.61 ERA over 69.2 innings of action. The sophomore is seven strikeouts away from topping the 500-career strikeout mark.

UT Arlington enters the opening weekend of league action after dropping a midweek tilt to top-ranked Oklahoma, 14-0.
Courtney Ogle leads the team batting at a .308 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs while Kenedy Hines sees the majority of time in the circle, recording a 10.36 ERA over a team-leading 24.1 innings of work.
