Trojans Place Nine on All-Sun Belt Indoor Team

TROY, Ala. – Troy placed nine athletes on the 2021 Indoor All-Sun Belt team, the league office announced Friday. Six Trojans were selected to the first team, the most of any team in the conference.
Edita Sklenska, Kasia Cooper, Vennessa Frank, Donisha Jeanty, Lauren Locke and Tanner Guest were all first-team selections while Maja Kuessner was the lone Trojan named to the second team. Macki Walsh and Samara Nelson each received third team recognition.
Sklenska struck gold three times at the meet, the only female athlete in the conference to win three gold medals at the championships. She broke a conference and school record in the 800m with a time of 2:08.34.
Sklenska, along with Frank, was part of both the gold medal-winning distance medley relay and the 4x400. Locke and Guest ran the other two legs of the DMR while Cooper and Jeanty ran in the 4x400.
Maja Kuessner was named to the second team after she finished with a silver medal in the high jump. The freshman broke her own school record with a mark of 1.78m.
Macki Walsh and Samara Nelson each garnered third team honors from the league. Walsh posted a time of 9:50.75 to earn bronze in the 3000m while Nelson's mark of 14.07m in the shot put placed her on the podium.
Troy set a new program record at the 2021 Sun Belt Indoor Championships with a 90-point output at the meet. The Trojans finished in third place at the championships as a team.
