Troy Volleyball Back In Action Against Florida State, Louisiana

TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball is set to return to action with a pair of matches in Tallahassee, Fla. against Florida State and Louisiana. The Trojans will square off with the Seminoles Friday at 5 p.m. CT and will play against the Ragin' Cajuns the following morning (Feb. 27) at 10 a.m. CT.

Troy finished the fall portion of its season with an 11-8 record and its second consecutive Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinal appearance. The Trojans were led by All-Sun Belt performers Cheyenne Hayes, who posted 199 kills and 130 digs, and setter Amara Anderson who ranked third nationally with 771 assists last fall.
Lacey Jeffcoat will look to continue her best season for the Trojans after averaging 4.85 digs/set and accumulating 364 total digs last fall. Caitlin Cooper led the defensive efforts at the net, averaging 1.07 blocks/set, the third-best single season clip in school history.
With a nation-leading, 119 aces, serving was a focus for the Trojans during the fall. Anderson and Natalie Hummel led Troy with 24 and 23 aces, respectively.
Know Your Foe
Florida State: The Seminoles enter the weekend with a 3-3 record this season, but have only two matches under their belt this spring. Florida State is led offensively by Jasmyn Martin who averages 3.00 K/S and has 60 kills in 10 matches. Morgan Chacon has 56 kills and a team high 56 digs for the Seminoles.
Louisiana: Troy did not have a match against Louisiana last fall due to the Sun Belt's division-only schedule for the regular season. The Ragin' Cajuns finished with a 17-7 overall record and an 11-5 mark in conference play. Hali Wisnoskie recorded a great fall season for Louisiana, totaling 340 kills, good for a 3.91 K/S average. Wisnoskie also led the Ragin' Cajuns with 19 aces last year. Hannah Ramirez led Louisiana defensively with 462 digs, a 5.31 DIG/S average, in 2020.
