Troy Set for Non-Conference Showdown with Alabama State

TROY, Ala. – Troy takes a step out of conference play for a midweek showdown against in-state foe Alabama State Wednesday in Montgomery. The Trojans are looking for their 11th non-conference victory of the season, which would tie for the third most since 2000.
The Matchup: Troy (20-5, 10-3 Sun Belt) vs. Alabama State (13-19, 10-6 SWAC)
Where: Montgomery, Ala. – Lockhart Gymnasium

Troy is a perfect 32-0 all-time against the Lady Hornets, including 13-0 on the road. The Trojans' 32-match unbeaten streak against Alabama State is the longest win streak Troy has ever had against an opposing team.
"We're excited for another exciting matchup against an in-state opponent," head coach Josh Lauer said. "It's another great opportunity for us to go out and get better before our last three conference matches."
Anderson Receives League Honor
Amara Anderson was named the Sun Belt's Setter of the Week for the fifth time this season and the seventh time of her career. The sophomore tallied her team-high 11th double-double of the year against Appalachian State and a season-high 55 assists against Coastal Carolina.
Know Your Opponent – Alabama State
Alabama State has swept four of its last five matches, including its last two against Alcorn State and Mississippi Valley State. The Lady Hornets have four players with over 200 kills so far this season, led by Bayle' Bennett's 343. Alabama State is holding opposing teams to an average of 11.5 kills per set this season, while Troy has been averaging 13.8.

- Two Trojans find themselves among the Sun Belt's best servers. Lacey Jeffcoat is fourth in the conference averaging 0.39 aces/set while Natalie Hummel ranks sixth with 0.36 aces/set.
