TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team welcomes in-state foe Samford to the Troy Softball Complex Wednesday for a midweek doubleheader matchup. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

The Trojans (8-1) are coming off back-to-back weekend sweeps in the Trojan Classic and Troy Invitational. Troy last opened the season with consecutive sweeps at the Mercer Invitational and Troy State Invitational during the 1998 season.
Â
Troy's offense sparked, smashing eight long balls and plating 34 runs over the weekend. The Trojans entered last weekend with just one home run on the year.
Â
Anslee Finch recorded her best offensive weekend as a Trojan. The freshman batted a .500 mark with a pair of doubles, two home runs and five RBIs.
Â
Libby Baker (2-0) leads the way in the circle with an impressive 0.39 ERA. The freshman has posted a pair of victories, two shutouts and 17 strikeouts over 18 innings of work.
