Last year, the Trojans notched the best finish in program history after finishing second as a team at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships. The 89 total team points Troy accumulated were a new school record, surpassing 2019's 81-point output.
Troy is led this year by Edita Sklenska who currently has the 23rd-best time in the nation, and best in the Sun Belt, in the 800m (2:07.18). Sklenska would qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a top-16 time in the event following the conference championship meets.
Sklenska also ran the final leg of the 4x400 – also comprised of Kasia Cooper, Vennessa Frank and Donisha Jeanty – that currently is the fastest in the Sun Belt.
Newcomer Maja Kuessner looks to continue an impressive indoor season. The Freshman enters the championships tied for the best mark in the league in the high jump with a leap of 1.74m. In the triple jump, Jade Johnson's jump of 12.22m at the Scarlet and Black Invite has her seeded fourth in the event.
Jasmine Riley has her eye on a podium finish in the 60m dash, entering the week with the third-best time (7.55) in the Sun Belt this year.
Tanner Guest, Lauren Locke and Cadi Rowe will all compete in the mile on Monday evening and have top seven times in the league this season. Guest's time, 5:00.10, is the third-best time in the Sun Belt this year. Guest will compete alongside Sklenska, Jeanty, and Sydney Singletary in the 800m, an event in which Troy took the top two spots at the 2020 championships.
