Troy Set to Host Liberty; Time Changed

TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team looks to continue its hot streak into Wednesday afternoon's midweek tilt against Liberty. Due to the threat of inclement weather, the matchup at the at The Troy Softball Complex has been moved to 2 p.m.
The Trojans (4-0) look to build on their opening weekend success that powered the program to their first 4-0 start since 2012.
Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week Leanna Johnson powered Troy to a 5-2 victory over Ole Miss on the opening day of the Trojan Classic, marking the first time since 2007-08 that Troy has defeated an SEC opponent in back-to-back seasons.
Troy closed out the night cap Friday with an 8-0 victory over in-state rival UAB before downing Belmont in consecutive games to round out the Trojan Classic.
For the weekend, Troy recorded 11 doubles. The Trojans, 2.75 doubles per game ranks second in the nation.
Logan Calhoun led Troy offensively last weekend, batting a .556 mark with five hits, a double and three RBIs. Calhoun was also a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts.
Troy's pitching staff allowed just two earned runs over the weekend, good for a league-leading 0.58 ERA.
SCOUTING THE FLAMES:
The Trojans and the Flames are two of 11 teams in the nation to open the season 4-0 or better. Liberty (5-0) spent the weekend in the Sunshine State playing in THE Spring Games where they defeated Pitt, Middle Tennessee and New Mexico State to open the season 5-0. This week, Liberty was receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Coaches Poll.
Amber Bishop leads the Flames at the plate batting a .444 clip with a pair of homeruns and five RBIs. Karlie Kenney has seen the bulk of action from inside the circle. Keeney recorded a 1.95 ERA with six strikeouts over 14.1 innings of work, going a perfect 2-0.
