Men's Tennis Earns Shutout Win Over Alabama State

TROY, Ala. – After nearly a week off from its last match in Florida, the Troy men's tennis team rebounded nicely with a dominant performance on Sunday over Alabama State. The Trojans picked up their seventh win of the season with a 7-0 shutout over the Hornets at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Agreeing to play through all of the matches on Sunday allowed Troy start the day off with three doubles victories. Christopher Tasker and Nicolas Simkin got the afternoon started with quick a victory on court one. The pair of Francisco Erramuspe and Vito Llinares also earned a 6-1 win to clinch the doubles point for Troy.
In singles play Tasker breezed through his match to get things rolling on the right foot before Pelayo Antuna had to battle his way back in set one before cruising in set two. With a 3-0 advantage, the Trojans clinched the match on court four as Llinares earned a straight sets win. This was Llinares second match clinching point of the season. The wins continued for Troy as Carles Anton earned his first win at the No. 1 spot this season. Manuel Bernard improved to 2-0 on court three while Simkin earned his fourth win on court five.
Troy will have a packed week full of road matches this upcoming week. Troy will get the week start on Tuesday with a match at Mercer before traveling to Corpus Christi, Texas for two matches at the HEB Invitational.
