Troy Soccer Drops Sunday Contest at Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga. – Despite eight saves from freshman goalkeeper Lindsey LaRoche, Troy dropped a Sunday afternoon heartbreaker at Georgia State, 1-0.

Georgia State (8-3-3, 3-1-2 Sun Belt) jumped out the gate firing away, recording their first shot attempt just 55 seconds into the match.

The Trojans' (4-7-1, 1-4-0 Sun Belt) first shot came in the 27th minute by Caylah Williams but was off target.

Troy's best looks of the opening half came in the 40th and 41st minute. Taytum Terrell fired off a shot that was blocked and led to a corner kick. Kate Eubanks connected with the ensuing corner but could not find the back of the net.

After heading into the break scoreless, the Panthers found their first goal of the afternoon in the 49th minute off the left foot of Maddie Johnston.

Troy's Allison Worley checked into the contest looking to make some noise, firing off back-to-back shot attempts but couldn't get one past Panther goalie Jaddah Foos.

Georgia State extended its lead to the eventual 2-0 final score in the 84th minute with a goal by Bree Barley.
