Men's Tennis Remains Perfect with doubleheader Victory

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team remained perfect after picking up two wins over Point University on Saturday. Both wins on Saturday were by scored of 7-0 and the two wins move Troy's record to 5-0 on the year.
Troy kicked things off with a strong showing in doubles as the pair of Amer Bedwan and Vito Llinares and the duo of Andy Romero and Nicolas Simkin each earned 6-2 decisions to earn the doubles point for the Trojans. It was just the second time this season that Troy has won the doubles point.
In singles action there were some battles on courts one and two as Pelayo Antuna won a tough battle 7-6, 6-4 and Manuel Bernard had to fight back to take the final two sets after dropping the opening set.
Troy handled courts 3-6 with relative ease, as all four courts were won in straight sets with only court four winning by less than two-points.
In match two Troy continued its strong play from earlier in the day. The Trojans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after winning the all-important doubles point thanks to back-to-back 6-0 shutout victories from Antuna and Anton as well as Llinares and Bedwan.
In singles the story was the same. Dominating performance that led to quick wins. Antuna and Antonio Selma finished right away with straight victories while only surrendering one-point total. After Amer Bedwan picked up the clinching fourth point of the afternoon for the match win, thanks to a retirement by Point Universities Guido Luna, The Trojans played to finish and earned the final three singles points for the sweep.
Troy will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Florida to take on North Florida on Friday and Stetson on Sunday.
