Men's Tennis Plays First Home Match of the Season Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team (1-0) will play its first home matches of the new season this Saturday when they host AUM (0-0) for a double header. The Trojans and Warhawks will play their first match at 10 a.m. followed by the second match at 1 p.m.
This will be the third consecutive season that Troy and AUM have competed against each other. The last two meetings have been won by Troy, both by 6-1 decisions.
Head coach Rolando Vargas, who won four national titles as the head coach at AUM, guided Troy to an impressive, season opening victory on Thursday. Troy traveled to Samford and won 4-3 thanks to a match clinching point on court six from Christopher Tasker.
Trojan Notables
• The Trojans will be going for their eighth & ninth straight victories on Saturday. They won their final six matches of the shortened 2020 season
• Pelayo Antuna won his 50th career singles match on Thursday. It was also his 22nd career victory at No. 1 singles
• With Vito Llinares' win at No. 4 singles on Thursday, he has won 11 consecutive dual singles matches dating back to last season. He also improved to 4-0 all-time at No. 4 singles
• Carles Anton improved his career record to 6-1 at No. 2 singles (5-1 in 2020) on Thursday and has won three straight dual singles matches
• Nicolas Simkin made his Trojan debut on Thursday
