Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth in Season Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Brent Hamm and George Burch turned in quality rounds for the Troy men's golf team in Wednesday's final round of the Hoover Invitational. The Trojans finished in ninth place with Burch tying for 15^th on the individual leaderboard.

Burch carded a pair of birdies Wednesday to finish with 10 total birdies in his first collegiate tournament. He shot even par in the final round and finished the tournament 1-over after opening with a 2-under par in the first round.

Hamm finished with two rounds under par after shooting 1-under in the final round thanks to four birdies to go along with his 2-under 70 in the first round. He tied for 35^th place overall at 9-over par.

UAB rallied past Georgia Southern to win the team title by five shots while ULM, Middle Tennessee and Coastal Carolina rounded out the top five.

Will McFadden and Ryan Morrison each shot a 5-over 77 to close out their opening tournament of the year; McFadden tied for 38^th place at 10-over and Morrison finished in 49^th place at 13-over par. Reagan Harrell finished 50^th overall in his Troy debut and Bryson Bianco tied for 59^th place.

Troy will play its final tournament in an abridged fall season Oct. 12-13 at the Intercollegiate at The Grove hosted by Middle Tennessee.
