Lopez and Aravena Named to Atlantic Sun All-Decade Team

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's tennis standouts Carolina Aravena and Luisa Lopez has been named to the Atlantic Sun All-Decade Team, the conference announced Monday.

Aravena was named the inaugural A-SUN Freshman of the Year in 2001 while also earning first team all-conference honors that same year. In 2003 she was named a second team all-conference performer before earning the same honor in 2004 as well. Aravena is one of just two Trojans all-time to be named to three All-Atlantic Sun Conference teams.
Lopez had one of the best A-Sun careers, earning three First Team All-Atlantic Sun honors in 2001, 2003 and 2004. She is the only Trojan to have earned three first team honors and one of two to earn three total honors in her career. During the 2004 season Lopez became the first and only Trojan, during their time in the A-Sun, to be earn an A-Sun Player of the Week honor.

During the decade, seven programs captured ASUN Championship titles in ETSU (2), FAU (2), Jacksonville (2), Campbell (1), UCF (1), North Florida (1) and Troy (1). Eight different student-athletes from six different institutions earned the Player of the Year honor between 2001 and 2010. Seven squads made appearances in the NCAA Championship: Campbell (2001); UCF (2000, 2002); ETSU (2006, 2009); FAU (2003, 2005); Jacksonville (2007-08); North Florida (2010); Troy (2004).

To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections (Singles), four All-Conference selections (Singles) or multiple Player of the Year honors. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Freshman of the Year or three All-Conference selections (Singles).
