TROY, Ala. – Troy safety Craig Slocum has been named to the Pro Football Focus National Team of the Week following his performance in Troy's victory at Middle Tennessee.
Slocum, a former walk-on who was placed on scholarship on the opening day of fall camp, intercepted a pass and was credited with one tackle by the in-game crew, while PFF had the Lake Butler, Fla., native with three tackles in the game.
He finished the game with an overall 91.5 grade and a 90.5 coverage grade as he allowed just one completion on two targets. Slocum, a junior, intercepted an Asher O'Hara pass midway through the second quarter and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown. However, the return was called back for an illegal block when O'Hara stopped mid-tracks in front of Carlton Martial causing an unavoidable collision.
The start at free safety was the first of Slocum's career and he played 31 total snaps as the Trojans limited the Blue Raiders to just 241 yards of total offense; the fewest by an FBS opponent since 2017.
