Women's Basketball Earns No. 1 seed in Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball will be the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, announced Saturday evening by the conference office. With Saturday's win over Arkansas State Troy won the outright regular season title and earned the top spot in the tournament that will be held at The Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. March 14-15.
After earning the double bye into the semifinals in New Orleans the Trojans will make their 2020 Sun Belt Tournament debut on Saturday March 14 at 5 p.m. Troy's opponent will be decided between March 10-11 in the first two rounds of the tournament that will be played in pod format. Troy will get the winner of the Louisiana pod that features No. 4 Louisiana vs No. 9 Georgia Southern and No. 5 Little Rock and No. 8 App State. The winner of each of those first round games will meet in a quarterfinal game in Louisiana on March 11.
The other pod will be hosted at UT-Arlington and feature No. 3 UTA vs No. 10 Texas State and No. 6 South Alabama vs No. 7 Arkansas State. The winner of each pod will advance to New Orleans and join Troy and Coastal Carolina who is the No. 2 seed.
