Men's Tennis Earns Sweep over Alabama A&M

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches on Thursday with a decisive 7-0 victory over Alabama A&M in the first of its three matches over the next three days. Thursday's match was a make-up match that was originally scheduled for Jan. 31.

The Trojans got things started in doubles play where they got a quick 6-3 victory on court two from Pelayo Antuna and Carles Anton. After the quick victory on court one, the Trojans had to wait to clinch the point as the pair of Christopher Tasker and Andy Romero were in a battle on court one while Oskar Michalek and Javier Llinares were in their own battle on court three. Troy finally clinched the doubles point as the duo of Michalek and Llinares took care of business with a 6-4 victory.

In singles action the Trojans dominated, as none of the six matches went past two sets, and only one match had sets that weren't decided by a 6-1 or 6-2 score. Tasker earned the Trojan's first singles victory of the afternoon with a quick 6-1, 6-0 decision on court five before Llinares picked up the Trojans second point of the day on court four. The match was clinched on court six by Antonio Selma with a 6-2, 6-1 straight sets win. With the match in hand Troy continued its strong play, earning straight set victories on courts one, two and three to close out the perfect afternoon.
