Nicole Lorup Named Sun Belt Golfer of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Coming off an impressive run to start the spring season, Troy sophomore Nicole Lorup has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week; she shared the honor with Grayson Gladden from Arkansas State.

Lorup, a Smørum, Denmark native, turned in a pair of top three finishes to lead the Trojans at the Amelia Island Collegiate and the Islander Classic. She posted a 72.00 stroke average for the week and played five of her six rounds at 72 or lower with three rounds under par.

She tied for third in the spring opener with a 3-under 213 at Amelia Island before tying for second, just a shot back of her third title of the year, at the Islander Classic with a 3-over 219. Lorup carded a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Islander Classic for her third round in the 60s this year.

Lorup now has five top 10 and seven top 15 finishes in Troy's seven tournaments this year. She is the lone Trojan to have all 20 of her individual rounds count towards the team card and she has played in the red in 35 percent (7-of-20) of her overall rounds this year.
